After studying this UNIT, students will be able to:

  Segregation in the 1940s and 1950s

*Compare and contrast the presidencies of Kennedy

  And Johnson

*Discuss the areas of civil rights that groups tried to

  Improve in the 1960s

*Trace the effects of the civil rights movement on

   Minorities other than African Americans

  Rosa Parks, George Wallace, Medgar Evers, Ella Baker, Black Panthers, James Meredith,

  Dwight Eisenhower, Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, Ceasar Chavez, Americans with Disabilities,

  Orval Faubus, Linda Brown, NAACP, Betty Friedan, KKK, Stokely Carmichael, NOW, Robert Kennedy,

  Russell Means, Martin Luther King Jr.

March 19th--  Students will have started their write-ups on the events

March 22ndLast day to work on project—students should be wrapping

  Up all research and should be constructing their final project

March 25th—Project Due, presentations of projects begin
