ART

Intermediate School

 

 

Students in Grade 3-5 practice the basic elements of art together with the basic elements of design; emphasis, balance, rhythm, unity, and pattern. Classed are generally taught in "units" with a different emphasis at each grade level. Often the art class will reinforce what is being taught in the regular classrooms.

Some of the units covered in 3rd grade are:

 

 

 

  • line
  • texture
  • Native Americans
  • 3-D (drawing and form)
  • painting

Some of the units covered in fourth grade are:

  • drawing
  • printing
  • intro. to pottery

Units worked in the 5th Grade are:

  • pottery
  • color
  • design
  • handcraft

All Students receive a letter grade as well as a number grade for their effort and behavior.

Smocks are provided for the children to use.. All classes meet once a week for 40 minutes.
